Johnna was a young woman who lost her battle with cancer on March 21, 2009. Through it all, she was lovingly supported by a women’s cancer support group that called themselves “Hany’s Hair Em.” This group of women chose this name because their beloved Dr. Hany Khalil was Egyptian and they all had an on-again, off-again, relationship with their hair due to chemotherapy.
Johnna’s mom, Maryann Fiore Hopkins, created the High Tea Party in her memory. Its main purpose was to help provide assistance to the group that had provided so much support to her.
In 2011, Dr. Hany Khalil formed the Marcelle Erian Cancer Foundation. To this day it provides counseling, medical supplies, family assistance, medications and personal support to cancer patients not covered by insurance plans.
Johnna’s Tea Party has been a local community event since 2009. The funds it raises have supported the Marcelle Erian Cancer Foundation and will continue to support local charities and our community. Thank you for your participation and generosity.
